All About Kailash Mansarovar Yatra

Kailash Mansarovar Yatra for Non Resident Indians (NRI)

Q. Is there any separate process for VISA and Permit procedure for NRIs travelling to Kailash Mansarovar? Can any NRI travel together with Indian passport holders?

There is a separate process for NRIs, however, NRIs can travel together with Indian passport holders. The NRIs have to arrive in Nepal 4-5 working days before the Kailash Yatra date. Upon reaching Nepal, you will be issued a Nepal VISA On Arrival. There you have to submit your passport to the team member of Trip To Temples who will then apply for a Group VISA for the Kailash Yatra.
For more details on this, contact the Trip To Temples team or WhatsApp/ SMS KMY NRI VISA at 8510007751

Q. Do NRI pilgrims need a VISA for Nepal during Kailash Mansarovar Yatra?

An NRI requires a Nepal VISA which is upon arrival. He/she needs to reach Kathmandu 3 to 4 days before the Kailash Yatra date so that he/she can submit their passport to our team to apply for a Group VISA for Kailash Yatra. The Immigration process to enter and exit the Nepal border should be the same because if the border is different then it might create a problem in flying back to the home country.

Q. Why do NRI passport holders arrive from Kathmandu and not from Lucknow in the Kailash Mansarovar yatra?

NRIs and Foreign Passport holders need to start Kailash Yatra from Kathmandu only because applying for Kailash Mansarovar Yatra VISA at the Chinese Embassy in Kathmandu, Nepal Immigration Stamp is required. NRIs need to reach Kathmandu 3 to 4 days before the Kailash Yatra date so that he/she can submit their passport with our team to apply for the Group VISA of Kailash Yatra at China Embassy, Kathmandu. After submitting the passport, you can plan a local trip to Nepal with any other ID proof for which you can take the help of the Trip To Temples Team.

Q. I have a PIO/OCI card, can I travel to Mt. Kailash Yatra with that in place of my passport?

PIO stands for Person of Indian Origin, which means a person who originally belongs to India but has settled abroad. OCI stands for Overseas Citizen of India. They are those individuals who became eligible to be Indian citizens on 26 January 1950 or were a citizen at any point after that. PIO/OCI cards are internal documents required when coming to India. These documents are irrelevant and not required for a trip to Kailash Mansarovar. One only needs a passport has ID proof for Kailash Mansarovar Yatra.
