Kailash Mansarovar Yatra 2024

Kailash Mansarovar is one of the most important pilgrimage sites for Hindus and is of immense religious value. Followers of Hinduism visit the holy mountain from all over the world, seeking the blessings of Lord Shiva. It is a belief of the followers that Lord Shiva resides at the peak of the mountain with his wife Parvati and his disciples such as Nandi Bull and some other followers of Shivji.

Another important place is the Mansarovar Lake, which is a holy lake where pilgrims take dips and bathe in the lake. Mount Kailash Peak, located at an altitude of 22028 ft above sea level, is not just a tall mountain but a cluster of religious beliefs, emotions, spirituality and devotion of the pilgrims. Even a glimpse of this majestic mountain is a dream of many pilgrims and doing its parikrama is a feeling that no amount of words can justify. Pilgrims after completing the Parikrama are often seen celebrating or becoming emotional about completing the most significant yatra of their life.

Routes for Kailash Mansarovar Yatra

People are often confused about how they can reach Kailash and which route they should choose. Often finding out such information is hard because most of the time false information is available. However, let’s see what are routes that one can choose for the Kailash Yatra:

Kailash Mansarovar Yatra Government Route

The Government organizes Kailash Yatra via two routes:

  1. Kailash Yatra via Lipulekh Pass in Uttrakhand :   The government uses the Lipulekh Pass for the Kailash Trip, which requires trekking up to 250km over the span of 24 days to complete the entire yatra. Currently, the route is under construction and is being made motorable and the yatra from Kailash Mansarovar Yatra Lipulekh Route is expected to start in the year 2024.

  2. Kailash Yatra via Nathulala Pass in Sikkim:   Another route used by the Government Of India is via Gangtok, which takes 21 days to complete entirely by bus except for the parikrama.

The Kailash yatra India Government Route not only is tiring due to the number of days it takes to complete but also expensive enough to hurt your wallet. Apart from that there is a system of lucky draw, and as the name speaks for itself, whoever is lucky gets selected for the yatra and then there are a number of medical chekups one has to go through to finally get approval to go for the yatra. There is an age limit of 18 to 70 years for the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra via the Government Route. However these two routes can only be used by the Goverment of India and no private agency is allowed to conduct yatra from this route.

Kailash Mansarovar Yatra Nepal Route

  1. Kailash Mansarovar Yatra via Helicopter From Lucknow/Kathmandu:  It starts from Lucknow/Kathmandu and ends in Lucknow/Kathmandu, taking a total of 11 days to complete the yatra. Different modes of transportation is used such as AC coach and Volvo category buses, Helicopter and a Charter Flight to complete the yatra.

  2. Mansarovar Kailash Yatra via Bus From Kathmandu : Another option for pilgrims to choose from is the bus route which takes 14 days to complete the yatra starting from Kathmandu. It includes Kathmandu sightseeings as well. AC coach buses are used in Nepal and Volvo category buses are used in Tibet.

There are several private companies that conduct Kailash Yatra. The best part about choosing to go with a private tour operator is that you save yourself from a lot of trouble. Firstly, there is no lucky draw or medical checkups except for a physical fitness certificate by a local MBBS doctor. So if you have completed your Kailash Mansarovar Yatra Registrations then you are definitely going for the Yatra. It takes less time compared to government routes.
