Infrasturcture Facilities in Kailash Mansarovar Yatra

Q. What kind of toilet facility do we get in Kailash Yatra?

The Yatra to Kailash Mansarovar is a pilgrimage trip and nothing luxurious. There are limited facilities available in the Kailash Mansarovar region. Trip To Temples ensures to provide the best available services to the pilgrims travelling with us. Hotels will be provided at Lucknow / Kathmandu (2 nights), Nepalgunj (1 night), Purang Town (2-3 nights), and Darchen (1 night) in the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra by Heli Package where you will get rooms with attached toilets. Common washrooms are available in tourist guesthouses in Simikot (1 night). Hotels will be provided at Kathmandu (3 nights), Kyirong (3 nights), Dongba/ Saga (2 nights), and Darchen (1 night) and dormitories will be provided in Syabrubesi (1 night), in the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra by Overland Package. The hotels have attached washrooms in the rooms. whereas the guesthouses and dormitories have a common washroom. The washrooms are both Indian as well as western. There is no washroom facility available during the stay at Lake Manasarovar (1 night), hence Trip To Temples provides portable toilet tents. During the mount Kailash Parikrama, we stay at Dhirapuk (1 night) and Zuthulpuk (1 night). The Kailash yatra last happened in 2019, when the washroom was being constructed at Dhirapuk. There is a common washroom available at Zuthulpuk.

Q. What is the toilet facility available at Mansarovar & during Mt. Kailash Parikrama?

There are no washrooms at Lake Mansarovar, so during your one-night stay at Mansarovar, Trip To Temples provides Portable Toilet tents for its pilgrims. The Mt. Kailash Parikrama is for 2 and a half days. The first day’s parikrama of Mt. Kailash starts from Yamdwar to Dirapuk. The night stay will be at Dirapuk. In 2019- the last time when Kailash Yatra happened, the washroom was being constructed, hopefully, it is expected to get completed by the time Kailash Yatra starts. The second day’s parikrama of Mt. Kailash is from Dirapuk to Zuthulphuk. The night stay will be at Zuthulphuk where there are common washrooms. After completing the last day’s parikrama you will return to Darchen.

Q. Which are the places where we don’t get toilet facilities during the Kailash Mansarovar yatra?

There are no washrooms at Lake Mansarovar, so Trip To Temples provides portable toilet tents for its pilgrims. Until 2019 there was no washroom at Dirapuk, in 2019 the washroom was being constructed but whether it is ready or not is unknown because the Kailash Yatra did not happen in 2020, 2021 and 2022 due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Q. Do we have common or separate toilets for men and women in Kailash Mansarovar Yatra?

There are common washrooms for men and women in the dormitories and guest houses on the Kailash Yatra. Dormitories and guest house stay in Kailash Mansarovar Yatra are provided in Simikot (1 night) on the Helicopter Kailash Yatra route and in Syabrubesi (1 night) on Overland Kailash Yatra route. Since there are no toilets near Lake Mansarovar, Trip To Temples provides common portable toilets and toilet tents for men and women travelling with us on the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra. A common washroom will also be available at Zuthulpuk, during our second-night stay in Mount Kailash Parikrama.

Q. What is the toilet condition at the Chinese immigration centre?

Earlier the toilet condition at the Chinese immigration centre was not good. Still, with the development in tourism, new construction is being done by the Chinese government to provide better facilities to the pilgrims. Now better infrastructure is available at the Chinese immigration centre on the Nepal-Tibet border.

Q. Where do we get electricity during the Kailash trip?

Government-supplied electricity is available on the Nepal side. On the Tibet side, electricity is available up to Purang town (on the Heli route) and Saga (on the Overland route). There are fixed timings of electricity and water supply in Purang town. In Mansarovar and Mount Kailash parikrama, solar light systems and emergency lights are available.

Q. Do we get mobile charging points in rooms in Kailash Yatra? / Where can we charge our phones during the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra?

Mobile charging points are available only in Hotel rooms and not in dormitories and tourist rest houses. To use the charging points, you need to have a universal adapter.  However, it is advised to carry a good quality power bank to charge your devices and an extra battery for the camera.
