Mahakumbh Nagri Tour 2025

Mahakumbh Nagri Tour 2025

Maha Kumbh Mela is one of the world’s largest gatherings of saints, pilgrims, Naga Sadhus, yogis, and spiritual gurus. It is a 45-day-long auspicious festival that is celebrated once every 12 years when all the 12 cycles of 12 'Purna Kumbhs' are completed. 'Shahi Snan’ and ‘Deep Daan’ are the two important rituals performed at Triveni Sangam during the Kumbh Mela celebration. Pilgrims take a dip into the holy water of Triveni Sangam which is believed to absolve the sins of past lives.

The Akharas play a pivotal role in managing the Maha Kumbh Mela celebration. There are three types of Akharas: Shaiva Akhara (followers of Lord Shiva), Vaishnava Akhara (followers of Lord Vishnu), and Udaseen Akhara (Sikh community). The Akhara which includes Naga Sadhus is known as ‘Akhara Matha’.These Akharas were founded by Adi Shankaracharya, the 8th-century Hindu scholar and philosopher, and functioned as spiritual institutions. They consist of the seers and ascetics who lead the rituals of the Kumbh Mela celebration. Shahi Snan, Kaplavas, Panch Koshi Parikramas, and Deep Daan are some of the key rituals performed during the Kumbh Mela celebration.

On the Prayagraj Maha Kumbh Akhara Walking Tour, we will take you on a walk to help you learn about all the 13 Akharas present at the Kumbh Mela campus. It’s the perfect opportunity to learn about spiritual practices and engage with sadhus and spiritual gurus. The leaders of the Akhara deliver spiritual preachings and educate pilgrims about meditation, renunciation, and spirituality in their spiritual programs at the Kumbh Mela. At these akharas, sadhus and mystics not only preach about the Vedas, Upanishads, and rituals but also organize the Maha Kumbh Mela celebration.
