The Embassy of Kathmandu in New Delhi has issued an advisory for dos and don’ts, following the resumption of Kailash Mansarovar Yatra, as announced by the Ministry of External Affairs. These guidelines belong to Kailash Mansarovar Yatra following the Nepal route, which can be completed by two designated routes: by bus and by helicopter.
Check out the essential guidelines outlined by the Embassy of Kathmandu in Delhi for Kailash Mansarovar Yatra by Nepal route in 2025 here:
Do’s
-
You must have a Chinese visa and a Tibet Travel Permit before departure.
-
Consider getting a comprehensive medical insurance with coverage for altitude sickness, evacuation, added stay, etc.
-
Conduct the mandatory medical check-up, and bring prescriptions, essential medications, and lifesaving drugs to combat altitude sickness.
-
Acclimatization at specific stopovers is crucial for avoiding any medical emergency/health risks due to trekking in low-oxygen zones.
-
Carry adequate cash, as it’s hard to locate any ATM in Simikot or Hilsa.
-
There are no network zones, so ensure having a SIM card with international roaming, messenger apps- WhatsApp, Viber, WeChat, etc.
-
Keep your tour operators’/agents’ contact numbers handy for a hassle-free communication throughout the yatra.
Don’ts
-
Avoid booking your Kailash Yatra from a travel agent without a Restricted Area Permit for Simikot/Hilsa or Rasuwagidhi.
-
The Chinese visa will only be issued by the Embassy of China in New Delhi, and not from the Embassy of China in Kathmandu.
-
Do not plan your Kailash Mansarovar Yatra on full moon days, because high volume bookings may lead to emergency isolation in Simikot and Hilsa.
-
Avoid travelling during heavy rainfall and cold weather, and check the weather forecast.
-
If not physically fit or currently undergoing medical treatment, avoid participating in Mount Kailash Parikrama.
But this doesn’t restrict you anymore. You can opt for something that doesn’t require any trekking, offers the view of Mount Kailash from an aircraft, gets completed within 3 days only, that too without any visa or permit- the exclusive Kailash Mansarovar Aerial Darshan tour. Moreover, you can also choose Kailash Mansarovar Yatra by helicopter from Kathmandu, which takes 11 days for the yatra, including Mount Kailash Parikrama, starting with Shri Pashupatinath Temple darshan.
